A Trump-appointed judge in Tennessee ruled late Friday night that the recently-enacted state law banning drag performances is unconstitutional.

The ruling is being celebrated by the LGBTQ+ community state-wide. U.S. District Judge Thomas Parker found that the law was too vague and broad in its language and violated free speech protections. The final ruling comes after Parker had earlier issued a temporary injunction in March.

The Tennessee law was the first of several bill of it's kind that made their way through state legislatures across the country under the guise of 'protecting minors' from 'adult entertainment', which many critics say is an attempt to limit free speech of the LGBTQ+ community.
