Fast food restaurant Chick-Fil-A is now drawing the ire of conservatives and protestors with a boycott over the appointment of a Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, otherwise known as DEI. Chick-Fil-A has a long history of supporting anti-LGTBQ organizations and deep religious roots. They say this DEI role hopes to focus on “creating a culture of belonging”.

Iowa’s governor has signed a bill that will restrict school instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity. Referred to as their own “Don’t Say Gay” bill, school administrators will also be forced to tell parents if their student requests a change to their pronoun or name. LGBTQ+ groups say this will promote harm to students and limit open discussion.

South Dakota’s governor has started a hotline for complaints about South Dakota colleges and has penned a letter to the South Dakota board of Regents to ban drag shows and eliminate pronoun use across the state’s colleges. She said that input from the hotline will be used to guide these policy changes. The hotline does not require a caller to prove they are a South Dakota resident.
